Committed to serving God, David and Cindy Southworth joined as husband and wife and partners in ministry in 1999. They began a lay ministry with FamilyLife, by facilitating small groups at their local church in Jupiter, Florida, that focused on marriages. They soon discovered their calling to help bring healing to hurting marriages, and networked with other couples who were engaged in similar ministry. They assisted FamilyLife in regional leadership summits. Because of David’s thirty years of service in the U.S. Air Force, they went on staff with Military Ministry (CRU), formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) in Newport News, VA from 2005-2007. Their desire to be able to more effectively help couples led them to become certified as marriage and leadership coaches through the American Association of Christian Counselors. They are also members of the International Christian Coaching Assn. Since 2007, David and Cindy have been leading marriage retreats, marriage small groups, marriage intensive weekends, and one-on-one coaching, and are the Executive Directors of Breakwater Coaching. In 2012, Cindy joined the John Maxwell training team for coaching, speaking, and training. God has given David and Cindy a passion to see men and women experience freedom and restoration in their relationships. They reside in Winter Haven, Florida, and are the parents of three grown children, and have six beautiful grandchildren. Cheryl was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to Florida in 2004. She is married to James and has a grown daughter, Kristen. Cheryl began her career in 1982 as a legal secretary in Philadelphia. After moving to Florida, she worked in administrative positions in Engineering for seven years and then back to the legal field. Cheryl served as Secretary for the Board of Directors for five years with The Way Center, a non-profit organization. She has been Breakwater Coaching’s biggest cheerleader for the past several years, having participated in many of its wonderful coaching and learning offerings. It has been a dream of hers for quite a while to be able to “do ministry” with her husband. Cheryl writes: “Since James and I were married (after our Pre-Marriage Coaching with Breakwater, of course), that dream has become a reality! I cannot wait to see what God has in store for this wonderful ministry and I am blessed to be part of it!” Passionate about empowering others in the area of leadership & personal growth, Lori Hernandez is a dynamic motivational coach and speaker that inspires individuals to fulfill their purpose. In over 20 years of professional work, she has trained and coached countless individuals in the area of leadership and personal growth. Her tenacity and willingness to help others has earned her respect and admiration from many in her community as well as the business world. Lori’s strongest point is her ability to connect and ignite a passion within an individual to take personal responsibility for change. She is fiercely committed to seeing people healed and restored to wholeness. Lori worked with international leadership expert, John C. Maxwell and his organization to become a certified Speaker, Trainer and Coach. She has used key leadership tools to enhance her own productivity, development and decision-making skills to create a better, more effective life. She is a graduate of Southeastern University with a degree in Business and Leadership. Lori has been married to her husband David for over 30 years and has three sons who also add value to others in the area of servant leadership. The Williams have been part of the Southworths’ ministry since their first week of marriage. They have facilitated marriage groups, served on the prayer team, and helped the Southworths during marriage retreats and speaking events in any capacity. They are sought after speakers in the Virginia area for topics about marriage and leadership. Hayley is a Certified Coach, Speaker and Trainer for the John Maxwell team and a Certified Value Based Leadership Specialist. Norvel and Hayley are SYMBIS certified Pre Marital Coaches, and they both offer couples coaching, pre-marital coaching, and Marriage 911 weekend intensives to couples who are looking to transform their relationships. They are graduates of the UP Marriage Mentoring program offered by Breakwater. In addition, Norvel offers one on one coaching to husband’s seeking accountability, marriage and/or individual growth. Matthew discovered his love for Philosophy through reading the classics of Psychology. While in graduate school, he found he loved teaching Philosophy even more than reading it. After earning his MA in Philosophy, he pursued a career in music, eventually becoming a bandleader at Disney’s EPCOT. It was here that Matthew discovered a love for conflict resolution and coaching. Matthew earned a Certification through Peacemaker Ministries as a Conflict Coach and Christian Conciliator. He went on to earn a second MA in Counseling before moving to Lakeland, FL where he currently works with 14-18 year old young men in a Juvenile Detention Center, while working with married couples and coaching men on how to find their highest relationship potential. Matthew is married to Bridgett, resides in Lakeland, and is the father of two young men.
