Our owner, Carlton Calfee is widely respected as an innovator for his expertise and experience in the industry. Trained by the legendary Ray Pitman, Carlton can quickly and accurately evaluate, understand and match you with your equipment needs. Our partners have experience in all facets of boom truck installation, service, rental and sales. Carlton Calfee, Jr., Founder and President of Boomtrux Inc. - Carlton’s passion for boom trucks began early, when his dad founded Grove Machinery, (the original Grove dealer in the southeastern part of the United States) in 1961. With decades of experience, Carlton founded Boomtrux, Inc. in 2008 focusing on used cranes purchased from Florida customers devastated by the economy. Always a visionary, Carlton hired Erik Mikkelsen as General Manager and has expanded the company into the #1 Boom Truck Specialist in America. His vast experience includes being the President of Certified Crane, focusing on new and used crane sales and Vice President & Sales Manager for Hydraulic Machinery, Inc. where he was responsible for 75% of sales. Carlton was the Fleet Manager for the seventh largest roofing supply company and at Custom Truck and Equipment, Carlton held the position of Southeast Regional Manager, training the Altec Utility Sales staff how to sell cranes to power company fleet managers. Carlton has not only designed, built and supervised construction and installation of over 100 different truck bodies for cranes and trucks; but he has done consulting work for non-competing equipment dealerships on how to buy and sell excess equipment. He also has done equipment evaluations for select customers. Prior to joining Carlton in 2009 at Boomtrux, Inc., he was a Financial Advisor for a Fortune 500 company, an Accounting Manager at a major jewelry retain chain and a General Manager in the Hospitality industry. In 2006, Erik joined a national roofing supply distribution company, acting as accounting liaison to the Fleet Director for the 600 vehicle fleet; introducing cost metrics analysis for fleet utilization and fixed asset tracking and budgeting for fleet expenses.
