While we continue to deepen our roots in traditional markets, we expect a significant portion of new aircraft and rail transportation delivery demand to come from non-traditional markets over the next 20 years. By strengthening and expanding our global presence we have the opportunity to capture new business, optimize our cost structure and strengthen Bombardier’s global leadership and competitiveness. We have the right ingredients in place – with mobility solutions that get better each year, incorporating the latest technologies to maximize performance and sustainability. But when you combine the growing complexity of our products with increasingly diverse customer demands, it makes flawless execution all the more challenging. We must have the right systems in place to rise to this challenge, delivering products on time without compromising quality and safety and doing so in a way that respects our employees and preserves the environment.  While André Navarri, the new President and Chief Operating Officer of Bombardier Transportation, develops and implements a comprehensive plan to restructure the group, the manufacturing activities at Bombardier Aerospace are consolidated, notably through the creation of integrated manufacturing centres. In parallel, the two groups recuperate the responsibilities of Bombardier International. The company’s balance sheet is strengthened and its working capital increased.  At year end, Laurent Beaudoin returns to the helm of the company and creates the Office of the President, which includes Pierre Beaudoin and André Navarri. The recreational product business is sold and the non-core activities of Bombardier Capital are subject to a progressive and orderly liquidation. Internal Communications Excellence Award at Rail Business Awards, UK Bombardier received the award for its ‘Safety with Attitude – let’s just do it’ continuous improvement programme. Since its inception in late 2010, the company has witnessed a 40% reduction in all accidents, a 70% reduction in days lost through accidents, and a 50% reduction in serious injuries. Bombardier’s 2011 Corporate Social Responsibility Report was recognized by EXCEL, a Canadian business and sustainability partnership. Best Rail Company Award - Italy Our Rail Control Solutions (RCS) site in Rome has been recognised as a Pioneer of Industry and Business in Italy, by LRQA, the global certification body. The site was commended for its commitment to innovation and quality/HSE performance, including being one of the first large signalling companies in Italy to achieve IRIS certification.
