Boco Helping Hands (BHH), a cherished Boca Raton-based nonprofit, traces its roots back to 1998 when it was born from the collaboration of local religious groups. Initially launched as a Food Center right at the heart of the community, BHH swiftly stepped up its game by cooking and serving nutritious meals three times a week while also providing food bags to families in need. In January 2010, their operations settled into a new home at the Remillard Family Resource Center located at 1500 NW 1st Court, Boca Raton, FL. These days, BHH is serving up meals six days a week and throwing open its doors for special Family Night Dinners on Thursdays. They don't stop there; they've got their system set to deliver home-cooked warmth right to the doors of seniors and those with disabilities who can't make it out. In 2002, BHH went above and beyond by launching a Resource Center focused on providing timely support during crisis situations such as evictions or when utility services get cut off. But they don't just offer immediate help; they give people the tools to build their futures with classes in Hospitality, Home Health Aide training, driving commercial trucks (CDL), becoming a Call Center Representative, and learning to be IT Help Desk Technicians. The Job Mentoring Center plays a pivotal role in coaching clients towards career growth and self-reliance. BHH isn’t sailing solo; they have the backing of generous individuals and companies alike, plus support from foundations and schools. Their hard work is recognized as they maintain their Four Star Charity status for over a decade – even bagged awards in 2015 and 2016! Partnerships like those with Lynn University's Future Leaders of Tomorrow program and The Fresh Market for food recovery show the breadth of their reach. With leaders such as Gary Peters, Tandy Robinson, and Peter Brockway steering BHH forward, they continue to be a cornerstone of community service and support.
