BLUE SAGE PILATES LLC, BRADENTON

This awareness and her hunger for a deeper understanding of the original intent of Pilates, lead her to the “Harvard of Pilates Training”, The Pilates Center (TPC) Boulder, Colorado. There she studied with the amazing Master Instructors, the Taylor sisters, Rachel Taylor Segel and Amy Taylor Alpers. Amy and Rachel received their Pilates training at the original Pilates Studio in NYC and were certified as teachers by Romana Kryzanowska, heir to the classical tradition of Joseph Pilates. Their commitment is to “maintain the powerful integrity and originality of Joe's work as it was taught to them by Romana and as they learn it from archival films and the writings of Joe.” Their mission, “to heal the world by empowering people to transform their health and "Return to Life", was food that feed Karol’s hungry appetite for knowledge and understanding of Classical Pilates, leading her to enrolled into the Master Bridge Program offered by TPC. The Master Bridge program is an intensive 6 month, 500 hour internship program which provided Karol the opportunity to deepen her understanding of Pilates and has taken her teaching to a new level. Understanding the layers of movement that each exercise provides, the genius behind the various equipment Pilates designed, and the impact they all have on the body, mind and spirit has been a direct result of becoming a “Master”. In January, she continued her commitment to “pay it forward” and became a Host Advisor, or mentor, to other trainees that are going through any of the Pilates teacher training programs that are offered by The Pilates Center. Karol encourages her clients to breathe, move their spine in every plane of space, keep a flow of movement, and initiate that movement from deep within their center. These are the same principles that Joseph Pilates taught and wrote about in his book, “Return to Life”. It is through her precise cueing and her watchful eye that Karol takes the student to a deeper awareness of their muscles and form. Her enthusiasm is contagious and, whether they are 80-year-old Alzheimer patients or Olympic athletes, she helps the student find the critical connections that are key to Pilates. Karol provides her clients with the experience that transforms and heals them inside and out. "I thought I had reached my pinnacle of my educational journey at that time. I then started searching for personal fitness and wellness venues to do that kept with my philosophy of how the body moves and functions. Dealing with intermittent back pain myself, I knew the weight room wasn’t going to be the right path for me anymore. I started visiting different Pilates studios around the country every time my husband and I would go on vacation. I was really enjoying the way the use of Pilates equipment made me feel. I began thinking of getting certified in this mainly for personal use of equipment at home. And Then, I walked into Karol’s studio at Blue Sage Pilates while vacationing down in Florida. At the time I was experiencing a lot of back pain from over working and traveling. She said just a couple statements that got my attention. She recognized my asymmetry and didn’t just try to “lock me into my pattern”. Long story short, I knew that the classic Pilates as taught by The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO would be a good fit to get my certification from and still be able to integrate this with my Postural Restoration while being true to the principles taught by both institutions. I earned my advanced Pilates Certification in Feb of 2016 from my host studio Alota Pilates in St Louis Park, MN. I was able to use this in my physical therapy practice in Bemidji, MN. As Fate intervened, my husband accepted a job in Florida and I am very happy to be able to work with Karol, my first mentor into the Pilates world."
