BLACKBERRY FARM LLC, WALLAND

About Blackberry Farm In 1939, Mrs. Florida Lasier of Chicago snagged her silk stockings on a wild blackberry bramble while exploring the idyllic Smoky Mountain foothills, and the name Blackberry Farm was born. Forty years later, the Beall family invested their hearts and souls in the same romantic site that has become their family home and lifelong passion. Today, one of America's most celebrated intimate luxury hotels beckons discerning guests who aspire to escape modern-day frenzy and slip into a Blackberry state of mind. Situated on a pastoral 4,200-acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry will show you the many reasons why it is one of the top rated properties in the world. As the sun rises over the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, the morning mist fades to unveil one of America's greatest hidden treasures, Blackberry Farm. Its 4,200 acres have been a mountain haven and tranquil escape for family, friends and guests for more than 70 years as it evolved into a luxurious resort of breathtaking scenery, gourmet cuisine and pleasurable pastimes. In the 1930's, Florida and Dave Lasier were enthralled by the majesty of these mountains and, on a trip from Chicago to the Georgia coast, discovered the perfect setting for their dream home. In 1930, while selecting just the right location, Florida snagged her silk stockings in a thicket of blackberry bushes, and the name Blackberry Farm was born. In 1976, the charm of Blackberry Farm captivated Kreis and Sandy Beall and inspired their own dream of sharing a magical property with good food and friends. Kreis made Blackberry the family's home and opened the beautiful property to the public as a six-room country inn. The Bealls' vision for Blackberry Farm became a reality and began to create a tradition of Southern hospitality, gourmet cuisine and cherished experiences. Through the years, Blackberry has welcomed guests from the far reaches of the globe as well as nearby neighbors, with the genuine Southern hospitality and personal attention that have become the estate's hallmark. Today, Proprietor Mary Celeste Beall continues and pushes the family's tradition of hospitality and service. More than 40 years ago, Blackberry Farm was founded on the idea of creating a home with good friends, family and good food. Today, Blackberry continues to share its Southern hospitality and a true sense of place with all that visit. Escape to the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee and experience all that Blackberry Farm has to offer. Attention to every detail, impeccable service and outstanding cuisine have helped Blackberry Farm earn its pedigree as one of the most celebrated small luxury resorts in the world. Blackberry Farm is located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee. At the heart of Blackberry Farm, you will find a family connected by memories, experiences and traditions. Eager to welcome you to this southern wonderland, the Blackberry Family, including the Bealls and each team member, is dedicated to providing the ultimate experience. Beall was born at Blackberry Farm and made it his home until his untimely passing in February 2016. As the late proprietor, Sam honored his parents by protecting and evolving the unique place that they originally discovered in 1976. During his leadership, the farm saw the evolution of the Farmstead, the Wellhouse, expansion of retail program, the creation of two new restaurants, and the accumulation of accolades ranging from Travel + Leisure’s Number 1 hotel in North America, Bon Appetit’s #1 Hotel for Food Lovers, and three James Beard Awards. Today, his wife and Proprietor, Mary Celeste, and their five children, live on the farm and continue to carry out his legacy. Blackberry Farm is, to the family, not simply a business, but their life, and they bring equal measures of passion, celebration and knowledge to Blackberry Farm and the effort to continue to raise the level of service and experience to new heights. Mary Celeste Beall is the Proprietor of the acclaimed resort hotel Blackberry Farm in the Tennessee Foothills. For more than a decade, Beall has lived and worked on the family-owned property. She and her late husband Sam are credited with transforming the space into a renowned food, wine and wellness destination. Prior to moving to the farm, Mary Celeste earned degrees in business and accounting, and worked as an associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Francisco. She resides on the property with her five children, in the family home she and Sam built within Blackberry’s working farm. Over the years, Blackberry Farm has garnered industry praise, including three James Beard Awards for Best Chef—Southeast, Outstanding Wine Program and Outstanding Service, and was named Bon Appetit’s No. 1 Hotel for Food Lovers. Blackberry Farm continues to be named among the top small hotels in the world by publications ranging from Conde Nast Traveler to Travel + Leisure. Kreis Beall was 23 years old and had one child and another on the way in 1976 when she and her husband Sandy purchased Blackberry Farm as their family home. Inspired by her grandmother’s work ethic and love for food and her mother’s sense of beauty and style, Kreis fell in love with the art of entertaining and wanted Blackberry to be an extension of her own home. Her life has always represented the same sense of southern hospitality. Kreis transformed the original nine-bedroom farmhouse into a Relais & Chateaux estate and restaurant. She has also minted Blackberry Farm's acclaimed high country style and created a design studio whose work has been featured in Southern Accents, Southern Living, Bon Appetit, Town & Country and Travel & Leisure, and on HGTV and PBS.
