Company Overview Bimini Shipping is an ocean shipping and logistics firm based in Miami, Florida. We provide cargo handling, storage and transportation services for all types of cargo between South Florida and the islands of the Bahamas and Caribbean. Founded in 1997, we own and operate a cargo and container terminal on the Miami River and three Roll-On, Roll-Off Vessels. The owners of Bimini Shipping, with a comprehensive background in construction and logistics throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean, understand the challenge of effectively executing projects and business activities in the islands. Bimini Shipping's Project Management team manages logistics and implementation of complex engineering, construction and development projects throughout the Caribbean Region. Company History Bimini Shipping, Inc. was established in 1997 as a small, family-owned ocean freight business with weekly service to Bimini and North Cat Cay. The company owned and operated the Bimini Cat, a 121-foot Roll-On, Roll-Off oceangoing cargo vessel. Bimini Shipping catered to a select group of clientele who were appreciative of the high level of customer service that could be provided by a locally-owned and operated firm. In 2007, Bimini Shipping was acquired by the present ownership, who have committed to a solid growth and expansion plan while still maintaining the same high business standards established by the company's founders. Bimini Shipping acquired a terminal on the Miami River and significantly expanded its shipping capabilities with the acquisition of two additional RO-RO cargo vessels - currently servicing 20 destinations throughout the Bahamas. The company continues to grow through the initiation of our logistical and purchasing services - providing for "turn-key" shipping and logistical solutions for our clients. With our ownership's background and experience in the construction industry in the Bahamas, Bimini Shipping intends to be the preferred choice in the Bahamas for all needs relating to ocean freight shipping, logistics, and project management. All of our personnel have undergone extensive screening and maintain an active security clearance for international port operation. Our terminal is fenced, lighted, and patrolled by trained security guards. To achieve safe ship, terminal and office environments, Bimini Shipping maintains and follows documented procedures. If an operations activity is unsafe, the activity is stopped, addressed immediately, and appropriate action is taken to eliminate the risk of harm to Bimini Shipping's clients and employees. To ensure safety issues are addressed on a timely basis, the company underscores that it is the duty of each Bimini Shipping employee to bring unsafe conditions immediately to the attention of his or her supervisor. The RO-RO vessels are ideal for inter-island transport due to their shallow draft and ease of loading/offloading - providing an economical and reliable means of transporting a wide range of goods from the Miami area to the islands of the Bahamas and Caribbean. Cargo is transferred in containers, trailers, LCL (Less Than Container), and oversized loads. Typical cargo includes household goods, food (palletized and refrigerated), construction supplies, heavy equipment, vehicles, fuel, and more. Our Cargo Terminal is conveniently located on the Miami River, less than five minutes from Miami International Airport.
