All Behavior Analysts at Behavior Builders are Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) or Board Certified assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs). BCBAs have a Master's degree (or higher) and BCaBAs have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or similar field. Both BCBAs and BCaBAs have completed ABA coursework, field experience, supervision, and have passed a competency-based examination.
Depending upon the needs of the individual and the specific funding source's requirement for services, Behavior Analysts may provide direct therapy on a case, supervise Behavior Technicians (see below), or a combination of direct therapy and supervision. All Behavior Analysts have extensive history working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities in home and school environments, creating extensive language-based programs, and assessing and treating problem behaviors.
All Behavior Technicians at Behavior Builders have completed or are working towards completion of the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. To become RBT credentialed, a staff needs 40 hours of ABA training, must complete competency training on ABA procedures, and pass a test administered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Observe 3 ABA sessions with various Behavior Builders staff.
Complete training on clinical systems employed by Behavior Builders.
Complete 6 - 9 shadowing sessions with other Behavior Builders staff, learning the teaching procedures used for that specific individual. (Note: this step is completed for each individual on the Behavior Technician's caseload.) The last 2 sessions of shadowing includes direct supervision by the Behavior Analyst supervisor on the case and demonstrating proficiency on all teaching programs for the individual.
