Bruce Beattie had been in the insurance and benefits business for 20 years with New York Life and the Guardian before starting out his own and forming Bruce A. Beattie & Associates in 1983. Bruce’s son, Tom Beattie, joined the firm in 1989, took over as managing partner in 1998 and continues to lead our company today. After three years he joined his father, Bruce, in the family owned brokerage and consulting business. He has been at Beattie & Associates since 1989, becoming the Managing Partner in 1998. Post college graduation, after a short stint with a small IT company, joined MetLife Healthcare Management (MHM) company, working in IT on the software for the first copay plan systems. MHM was merged into MetLife, which merged into MetraHealth, which was acquired by United HealthCare. So while it’s easiest to say Karen worked at UHC for 16 years, it was really 4 companies over a span of 16 years, all in information systems. Karen spent the most of her UHC years in management of IT, with the last several as Vice President of Information Systems. Karen joined Beattie & Associates in 2003, moving into broker sales & support. Karen has degrees in Computer Science and Accounting. “Employer provided health insurance.
