Bayfield Mitigation Bank is located in northern Columbia County in the Upper Suwannee River Basin. It is located in the Northern Highlands and is 2,082 acres of basin swamps, wetland sloughs, hydric flatwoods, stream side wetlands and mesic uplands. The careful restoration of the hydrology will return the system to the historical flatwoods environment. The Bank provides a bridge between public lands along the Suwannee River and the Osceola National Park. The Bank will provide credits in the Upper Suwannee River Basin, the Alapaha River Basin and growth areas around Live Oak and Lake City that are in small portions of the Lower Suwannee and the Santa Fe River Basins.
