Firm Overview When Jimmy Batten and Danny Shaw established their new construction company in 1988, they had a vision for creating a business that would be the undisputed leader in providing exceptional quality, integrity, and customer service. Batten & Shaw has been privileged to serve the Greater Nashville community for over 30 years now, in addition to projects that we have completed across the United States, and our commitment to these founding principles remains the cornerstone of our business. Give clients a good product and good experience Firm History Jimmy Batten was both a superintendent and project manager on many HCA projects in the early eighties. It was on one of those projects in Hobbs, New Mexico that he crossed paths with Danny Shaw. Danny was a general contractor in Hobbs who was awarded a subcontract for certain trades on Jimmy’s project. While working together, their mutual commitment to excellence and hard work forged a close friendship which eventually led to Danny closing his business in Hobbs and relocating to Nashville to form Batten & Shaw, Inc. with Jimmy. Their dedication and determination to quality enhanced their reputation and allowed them many opportunities for repeat business, as well as, many opportunities to prove themselves to new clients. B&S made certain throughout the entire construction process that their subcontractors provided the quality of work outlined in the Contract Documents while at the same time providing careful coordination of the intricacies of a health care type project. Even though the construction time period proved to be one of the coldest and wettest climate challenges, B&S worked very successfully to meet the completion deadlines imposed by the Contract Documents. Their understanding of the construction process, and their management of same clearly expressed their expertise, skill, and knowledge of how to correctly deliver a complex project on time and within budget. At Batten & Shaw, we feel that it is our responsibility to support and engage the community that we live and work in.
