Barney’s Pumps, Inc., established in 1950 by Barney Curls after leaving FMC Corporation Citrus Division, has evolved into a leading distributor and manufacturer serving the pump industry. The leadership transitioned to John Curls in 1984, under which Barney’s Pumps expanded through branch locations and initiated Unitron Controls, enhancing control technologies for wastewater systems while bolstering sales coverage statewide. The workforce grew steadily, reaching 90 employees by the year 2000. Leadership passed to John Curls Jr. in 2005, focusing on engineering support, quality management, and advanced pump solutions, integrating computer technology to adapt to market evolutions while maintaining its foundational customer-centric ethos. Barney’s Pumps serves an array of industries including water/wastewater, industrial, and food sectors across Florida, boasting three locations with over $4 million in inventory. The company represents best-in-class products from Flowserve, HOMA, Pentair, Roots, ARO, and more, supporting a range of fluid and air handling applications. Its comprehensive service shop constructs everything from simple pump packages to sophisticated custom systems, ensuring high-quality output.
