BAPTIST PEDIATRICS, INC., JACKSONVILLE

Mission-driven We are called to improve lives within the community, by providing excellent care for people whose lives have been interrupted by illness or injury, and by promoting health and wellness. Baptist Health is a not-for-profit organization owned by the community – not by shareholders. We are guided by a volunteer board of more than 85 engaged community leaders. Currently ranked as the “most preferred” health care provider in the Jacksonville area, Baptist Health is deeply honored to serve the community through a growing circle of care that includes five nationally accredited hospitals (including the region’s only children’s hospital) plus more than 200 primary care and specialty physician practices, children’s specialty clinics, home health care, behavioral health, occupational health, pharmacies, rehabilitation services and urgent care. The America’s Best for Patient Safety award identifies those hospitals that have had a low incidence of problems arising from surgical errors and infections.Baptist Health recently implemented new uniforms and patient garments made of protective Vestex® technology that helps in fighting infections. Some other safety programs have included a new barcoding process implemented system wide that ensures patients receive the right medication and right dose by the right route and at the right time. A Transfer and Lift with Care program started in 2007 has also significantly reduced patient-handling injuries by 81 percent. Winners represent hospitals that women can feel confident in choosing for their maternity needs. Hospitals who qualify for this highly selective designation provide the highest level of obstetric services based on their exceptional scores for patient recommendation, as provided by data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, as well as analysis that weighs criteria identified as the most important to women for patient satisfaction, including early elective deliveries. The Women’s Choice Award helps women and their families by providing recommendations they can trust and use when making healthcare choices. The award acknowledges Hill Breast Center’s dedication to providing exceptional patient care and treatment for the second consecutive year. Baptist Medical Center Beaches is the first and only health care facility in North East Florida to achieve NICHE designation. NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders) is the only national designation indicating a hospital's to elder care excellence. Through our participation in the NICHE program - the largest geriatric nursing program available - we are able to offer evidence-based, interdisciplinary approaches that promote positive experiences for the older adults in our care. This results in improved outcomes and greater patient and family satisfaction. The Baptist Heart Hospital at Baptist Medical Center is the only freestanding facility for cardiovascular care in Northeast Florida. It also hosts the region's only outpatient congestive heart failure clinic, helping patients manage related issues without hospitalization. In August 2014, cardiologists at Baptist Medical Center became the first in the state to implant the world's smallest pacemaker in a patient. The hospital is one of 35 nationwide participating in this clinical trial. Baptist offers a HeartWise prevention program to help patients lead heart-healthy lifestyles. Baptist HeartWise also offers a specific women's heart care element. The hospital is among the five best hospitals in Florida for 2014-15, according to U.S. News & World Report, and it is Magnet-accredited for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The 473-bed medical center includes around 4,079 employees. It is a Joint Commission-certified primary stroke center and an accredited chest pain center.
