Baber's is one of the companies of Baber Strunk Enterprises. Baber's has been a family owned corporation since 1959. James B. Baber opened his first Baber's Firestone Car Care Center on South Market Street in Pascagoula, Mississippi. In just a few short years, he, and his family, expanded their Firestone franchise across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In 1981, Mr. Baber and his son Barry ventured into the Rent-to-Own industry. The first Baber's store opened and still remains in the same building as one of the first locations of their Firestone businesses. Sadly, Barry Baber lost his life in an airplane accident in 1989. His widow, Cynthia, Mr. Baber, and other family members kept the company running and growing after his death. In 1993, Cynthia married Shannon Strunk. The couple along with Mr. Baber expanded the company across Mississippi and into Alabama. In 1998, the family opened their first Check Now branch. In August 2005, they began serving their customers with the additional brand, RNR Tire Express. In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina demolished most of the Gulf Coast, especially Mississippi. The Baber/Strunk family was determined to rebuild their homes and businesses. It was not easy, but Baber's survived and slowly became a strong company once again. Today, Cynthia, Shannon, three of their children, two of the children's spouses, a brother and a sister run the everyday operations. The company and family has grown significantly over the past 50 years. Baber Strunk Enterprises oversees 47 Baber's stores, 18 Check Now branches, 12 RNR Tire Express stores and 4 Dairy Queen locations across Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. This benefit gives you the oppurtunity to buy our products at "retail prices". Very friendly and so helpful I enjoy going into Baber's is, I think, the best rent to own store there is.
