Axent Marketing, Inc. was established in 1987 as a manufacture’s representative agency representing various lines of architectural hardware and hollow metal door manufacturers. Over the years some of those lines represented were Norton Door Controls for door closers, Amweld, Mesker, Premier and Daybar for hollow metal doors and frames, Detex alarmed door hardware, Architectural Builders Hardware (ABH) for overhead door holders, door coordinators, door pivots and other miscellaneous door hardware. Other lines were Select Hinges for continuous hinges, Markar for lite kits, louvers, stainless steel continuous hinges and FRP doors. We were also a stocking representative to help supply our customers quickly when many materials such as locks, exit devices, hollow metal doors and frames along with other materials had factory lead times of over 16 weeks. Some of you older folks in this industry may remember those days. Today, as the hardware manufacturers are being bought up by the large international groups and folded into new groups under new ownership in a chaotic marketplace we decided to simply continue to warehouse products for distribution and get off the road and out of the travel circuit. Gasoline went to over $4.00 a gallon and motel costs rose from $39.00 a night to $ 140.00+ per night. Traveling cost rose dramatically and commissions shrunk….oh how things changed in this industry! That has all occurred over the last 30 short years.
