At Austin Historical our mission is to be the most trusted historic restoration company in the country, restoring old homes to their former glory using only the finest craftsmanship and materials.
Scott founded Austin Historical in 2010 when he saw the need for a company dedicated to serve the specific needs of historic building owners across the southeastern US. He is a graduate of Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont where he studied historic preservation and has been restoring historic buildings since the late 1990s. He currently serves on the national board of the Window Preservation Alliance and is Vice-Chair of the Orlando Historic Preservation Board. He is a third generation painter, plasterer, carpenter, master glazier and has a wide breadth of knowledge about historic design and construction techniques.
Amber joined the team in early 2014 and keeps things organized and running efficiently for the whole team. She’s our director of first impressions and really enjoys getting to be a part of the restoration process without getting her hands too dirty. Amber’s penchant for organization, scheduling and crunching numbers is an integral part of the team to help keep them functioning in high gear so they can save as much of Florida’s history as possible.
He leverages nearly 20 years of craftsmanship and team leadership in Central Florida working with an array of tools, technology, and materials to ensure product excellence. In his spare time, Mark crafts home furnishings from reclaimed materials and enjoys camping and spending time with his family.
Karen is a sentimental Florida native who has always enjoyed history and nostalgia. After 15 years in the picture framing business and working for another window restoration company, she joined the Austin crew in the summer of 2013. Giving new life to historic buildings and the communities to which they belong is work she finds most rewarding. A bit of a workaholic Karen loves restoring historic windows to their former grandeur. Her free time is spent scouring record store for obscure music, baking cupcakes and drawing comic superheroes.
Shawn has always been interested in building things. A native Floridian and youngest of 8 children he grew up under the guidance of his father and brothers doing home improvement projects over the years. His father and grandfather operated a painting and wallpaper business for years making him a third generation painter. His background isn’t just in painting, having worked in musical theatre for the last 35 years all over the country. Shawn is always learning new trades and is humbled and blessed to be working with such a varied and talented group of friends at Austin.
