ARGUS CONSULTING, INC., Overland Park

Since our founding in 1994, we have focused exclusively on fueling systems design. While large, multi-service firms may have fueling experts in-house, as a small business, Argus is an entire firm of engineering professionals dedicated to fueling system design. From our corporate headquarters in Kansas City and offices in New York, Phoenix and Miami, we work across the Americas and abroad to design and oversee construction of facilities and systems that receive, store, distribute and transport petroleum products. At Argus, we are project-driven, client-focused and task-responsive, providing technical excellence and proactive management that’s beyond the industry norm. In 1994, four engineers with a strong passion for aviation and technical expertise in aircraft fueling systems came together with a new idea for the aviation industry. They envisioned a highly specialized firm of experts that would serve general and commercial airports with full-spectrum services from project planning to construction. Striving to be a watchful guardian for our clients’ interests, our founders named the firm Argus Consulting, a nod to the guardian giant of Greek mythology. An ancient mythical creature with many eyes, folklore states that Argus became the animal we know today as the peacock. Like ancient Argus, we aim to be ever watchful and attentive for all of our clients. Dr. David Kraft brings a broad range of specialized experience in private industry and higher education along with a unique business perspective to Argus Consulting in his new role on the Board of Directors. His extensive experience in engineering is deeply rooted in higher education, where he began as a professor at the University of New Mexico, then advanced to Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Dayton, Ohio. Later, he served as Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas from 1978-1984 and later, as Director of the Master of Science Program for Engineering Management from 1990-1998. He retired from the University of Kansas in 2008, where he is now Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering and Engineering Management. Highly educated, Dr. Kraft earned multiple advanced degrees, including a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Dayton, an M.S. in Structures and Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University and an MBA from Rockhurst University. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in three states. Along with an extensive career in higher education administration and teaching, Dr. Kraft has also founded and helped manage three companies in private industry. In Dayton, Ohio, he founded Shaw Weiss & DeNaples, a consulting and environmental engineering firm and Managing Technology, Inc. (MTI) of Overland Park, Kansas. MTI developed computer-based management systems for roadways and automated pavement testing equipment. More recently, he was Vice President and Owner/Partner at Accubrace Shoring of Howard Lake, Minnesota, where he provided technical assistance, project management, engineering coordination and financial/strategic business planning. Dr. Kraft now lends his many years of experience in consulting engineering and business strategies to Argus’ Board of Directors. Kent Bredehoeft is responsible for the strategic, operational, financial and cultural leadership of the firm to create corporate growth, increased profitability and opportunities for employee improvement. Kent drives the corporate vision and values and provides leadership to more than 40 professionals through a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement. A registered professional engineer in six states, he has devoted his 25-year career to the design and construction of commercial and military aviation fuel systems and to establishing industry standards for fuel facilities. His extensive resume includes fueling systems at most of North America’s busiest airports and multiple Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) projects for the U.S. Department of Defense in the United States and Middle East. Kent has contributed to several aircraft fueling master plans, and served as Secretary of the SAE 5c Aviation Fuel Facilities Committee, which develops planning and design standards for fuel facilities. Kent has a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. While we are focused on fuel, Argus Consulting provides the full spectrum of engineering and professional services for fuel receiving, storage and distribution systems, and facilities. From the start of your project right up until its successful finish, we provide the bridge between your needs and your operational vision for the future—all from one source. Our company operates around a structure of four core values that underlie our relationships with our industry, our clients and each other. We partner with our clients to help them understand their options, choose the right solutions and achieve their objectives in a cost-effective way. Across the Americas, Argus Consulting is the trusted leader in planning, designing and managing the construction of complex fuel systems.
