We are very fortunate to have come across the Aquatron water system. Of our approximately 35 acres of production area, the Aquatron 4in system is utilized on 15 acres. Since we installed the system we have seen significant improvement in propagation speed and quality. In addition, we have seen an impressive improvement in quality of our finished material in the crop areas where the system operates. We really were impressed with the enhancement of our propagation program and our ability to now expand it without using more space. Within weeks of installing the system, we noticed the time in which our ficus and dracaena cuttings were rooting. Normally, it takes 10 to 14 days to rood a bare cutting we now can do the same thing in 7 to 10 Days. Where this is really benefiting us now is in our production of Hibiscus and Ixora liners for our own use. We have been supplying large chain stores with hibiscus and Ixora for three years. Until we installed the Aquatron system, we did not have the space to do the over 100,000 liners a year we need to fill our orders. We have had to buy liners from other growers for considerably more than it costs to actually grow them ourselves. This will be the first year we will be able to do all of our own liners instead of less than half using the same amount of square footage. We project this will save us approximately $17,000.00 this year just in production of Hibiscus and Ixora. The other advantage we have seen is the marked improvement in the number of cuttings that take. Generally, we lose 5-10% on cuttings that do not take for various reasons. We now estimate that we have less than 5% loss on our propagated material. The propagation advantages have been impressive enough to me, however we have also seen improvement in the general growing of finished plants. We actually found out how good the water from the Aquatron system actually is for finished plants by accident. We had a crop of Ficus Elastica Burgundy that we rooted in the sun under the Aquatron water system. As expected they rooted within 10 days, and after 4 weeks we were amazed to see a month later that the batch what was still outside under the Aquatron system was actually fuller, bigger, and much cleaner than the batch that was in the shade house. Both batches had the exact same fertilizer and pesticide treatments. The only difference was the water. I ended up shipping the batch from the outside before the batch in the shade house. I’ve come to the conclusion that the water that goes through the Aquatron system is very similar to rain water, which all growers know, is the best water to have.
