Donald Walker has worked in the metal fabrication business for over 50 years and began working on locks and spillways in the 1960's .  He started Apex Metal Fabrication, Inc. in 1980 as a metal fabrication business, but his knowledge and experience with flood control gates and spillways has brought those types of projects to the company.  This type of work has been a primary focus for the company almost from the beginning mainly working on projects for the Army Corp of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District, giving Apex a superior understanding of the requirements for this type of work.  Today, he is assisted by his sons, Keven and Walt, and together they bring over 100 years of combined experience, still providing the superior service and quality work that people have come to expect from Apex Metal Fabrication, Inc. Apex Metal Fabrication, Inc. works both on-site and at the company's 21,000 sq. ft. facility in Palatka, FL, located on the St Johns River.  Our facility has 70,000 lbs. lifting capacity under roof with additional open air crane capacity for larger fabrication projects and is well positioned to ship products by rail or barge, when they are too large for the company's flat-bed tractor trailer.  The company is also equipped with its own mobile crane for jobsite lifting tasks. Besides the usual stairs, handrails and platforms, Apex Metal Fabrication has the skill and capabilities to do special metal fabrication projects at competitive prices.  Some examples of the unique projects that Apex Metal Fabrication has built and installed are the props for the James Bond movie, Never Say Never and the Orangutan monkey poles for Busch Gardens. Apex Metal Fabrication specializes in working on flood control projects for the US Army Corp of Engineers, Florida South Water Management, Florida Department of Transportation, and Environmental Protection Agency. Apex Metal Fabrication has worked on over 15 flood control structure in south Florida.
