Our Mission To provide strategic planning, training, supplier development, and new business opportunities for small businesses and to provide support to government Customers and prime contractors relative to providing key resource requirements and supporting their respective small business programs. Company Inception and Background: Dr. Donald L. Brechtel has a passion for assisting small businesses sustain current operations, develop and grow in the defense and commercial marketplaces. As a retired USAF procurement officer for major weapon systems, he stressed the importance of integrating and developing small businesses within the defense marketplace. Upon his retirement from the USAF, Dr. Brechtel became the Procurement Director for a major defense program at General Dynamics Corporation, Convair Division, San Diego,California. Subsequently, he was a Supply Chain Executive with Hughes Aircraft Company (owned by General Motors Corporation) and Raytheon Company. Dr. Brechtel was the first Manager of Supplier Development for Hughes Missile Systems Company,Tucson,Arizona. During this time, he led many Six Sigma Process Improvement Workshops with small businesses to improve their overall performance and support their growth objectives. While serving as the Senior Purchasing Manager for Material Strategy, he focused on the development of small businesses in support of major defense programs with Hughes Missile Systems Company. Dr. Brechtel was the recognized company subject matter expert for Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Agreements. During his tenure at Hughes and Raytheon Company, he has been credited with his companies winning six DoD Nunn-Perry Awards for outstanding Mentor-Protégé Agreements—one with SUMMA Technology, Huntsville, Alabama; two with The ENSER Corporation, Pinellas Park, Florida; two with Tampa Brass and Aluminum, Tampa, Florida; and one with UEC Electronics, Hanahan, South Carolina. Dr. Donald L. Brechtel has served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council (FMSDC) for the last nine years and currently serves as the Chairman of the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Professional Development Committee. Dr. Brechtel is a university Professor currently serving on the faculties of University of Tampa and Central Michigan University.
