Ampersand Construction, LLC. located in Sarasota, Florida was founded in 1999 in San Francisco, California. In 2003, the headquarters was relocated to Florida's Gulf Coast with a mission to offer exceptional quality construction and remodel services. As a result, homeowners, buyers, and sellers of the Sarasota market were given honest and unmatched construction & renovation. Ampersand specializes in custom home construction, residential additions & remodels, catering to the most discerning of clients. Led by Allan Livesey and John Hermansen, Ampersand’s work has been featured in local publications and most recently was a recipient of a Home of the Year award from SRQ Magazine 2014. Allan Livesey studied architecture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, California after receiving a BA from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in Environmental Studies with a concentration in urban and regional planning. His work experience includes two years with San Francisco-based firm, Holt Hinshaw Architects, which Allan left to start Ampersand Construction LLC due to a desire to merge design with the more pragmatic side of residential construction. This design/build approach to construction and renovation enabled Allan to work directly with local interior designers and architects, helping them achieve and deliver a highly refined product to the client. Construction experience in San Francisco ranged from Victorian renovations of residential properties in excess of 15 million to much more modest and modern, town-home, and mission style renovations. In late 2003, Allan relocated with Ampersand to Sarasota, Florida with a mission to bring homeowners, buyers, and sellers of the west coast of Florida honest and unmatched construction, renovation, and design services. Allan resides in Sarasota with his wife and daughter, and holds contracting licenses in both Florida and California. Vice President/Director of Business Development: Ampersand Construction, LLC. John Hermansen has an MS/MBA from the University of Newcastle, Australia from 2002 and a BA from Rollins College in International Political Economy, with minors in Business Administration, French and German. He worked in Paris, France and Oslo, Norway for a number of years as a maritime broker until he relocated to San Francisco to develop real estate with business partner Allan Livesey. As Director of Business Development, his responsibility lies in strategic planning, exploring market prospects, as well as building and maintaining long-term client relationships. John brings more than fifteen years experience in Business Development and Real Estate Investment. His primary focus has been Real Estate Development in Sarasota and Brevard counties while working to secure new business and investment opportunities. John has been a Sarasota resident since 2003.
