After seeing so many of my beautiful, talented and fierce female sisters, family members and friends struggle with a negative self image, eating disorders and/ or distorted reality, it has become my life mission of sorts to promote love and acceptance of ourselves and others. Tina Tidwell Bedore, 500 E-RYT (dancer, choreographer, yogi) graduated with her degree in Dance from the University of South Florida with a secondary emphasis in Psychology focusing on Body Image Disturbance in dancers. During her time at USF, she was president of the Dance Education Organization worked with artists such as Janis Brenner, John Parks, Jeanne Travers, Stacy Spence (Trisha Brown Dance Company), Dionne Sparkman Noble, Andy Noble, Lynne Wimmer, and Gretchen Ward Warren, had the privilege to study abroad and perform in Paris, France with Michael Foley, Richard Siegel, and Jennifer Fleenor. It was there she fell in love with yoga, through dance, after studying with Michelle Jacobi at the Centre de Yoga du Marais in Paris. Upon returning to the States, she worked in administration as the Music Coordinator at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts. Tina continued to come back to yoga in attempts to balance her body from rigorous rehearsals and her mind during a hectic schedule. Tina has performed and her choreography has been seen both nationally and internationally on the stages of France, Florida, Ohio, Los Angeles, and New York City. She has studied with the Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company in NYC, Ledges and Bones Dance Project in LA, Stephanie Liapis at Dance New Amsterdam in NYC and has performed with Moving Current Dance Collective, All Out Rep Company, Mosaic Dance Collective (a series she curated), Busch Gardens Theme Park, Hixon Dance Company (OH), and Anna and The Annadroids (OH/ San Francisco). Tina’s work has been shown in the Florida Dance Festival, Four Days of Dance, Hush Cabaret and FIVExFIVE. She is the Artistic Director of Spec Performance and curated Spec Performance Series in the Tampa Bay Area. In 2013, Tina was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the Arts Council of Hillsborough County to create a dance theatre piece entitled Beauty Image on both professional dancers and the young dancers at Orange Grove Middle Magnet. In 2014, Tina founded Amour Movement, a dance company dedicated to empowering girls, teens, women and humans alike by creating a movement of love, positivity, mindfulness, self acceptance, self expression, and self discovery through the art of dance and yoga. Amour Movement holds classes, workshops and events in modern dance, creative movement, the performing arts, yoga and meditation to promote a positive self-esteem and body image.
