AMA Design Build (AMADB) is a full service Construction Management Company established in 2004, emanating from its parent company, AMA Consulting Engineers, PC (AMAPC), a 120+ employee multi-faceted Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing Design Firm licensed in 48 states and headquartered in New York City with three regional offices in Los Angeles, CA; Madison, NJ; and Manhasset, NY. The core principle of the firm is our belief that there is only one way a construction project can sustain the momentum to stay on track with respect to budget and schedule and ultimately be deemed a success and that is for the Construction Manager to be involved early during the pre-construction phase thereby providing a thorough understanding of the field conditions, project scope, required phasing and trade coordination. This occurs when the CM is willing to ‘own’ the budget from the earliest stage of the project through to the punch list.. Having a tight-knit group of 10+ Project Managers and Field Superintendents, the AMADB construction staff is supported by and works succinctly and in tandem with the AMAPC design team which includes 16 in-house licensed professional engineers working closely with the construction staff throughout the entire course of a project to provide accurate budgets and schedules, thereby providing the needed safeguards to minimize, or at best eliminate scope changes and associated time delays and the subsequent additional costs. AMADB provides a multitude of construction services to clients who require construction management expertise associated with the new construction, renovation and hardening of Base Building/Tenant infrastructure systems (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Elevator, etc.) for Commercial and Residential buildings. Although the majority of our projects are design-build, we have also successfully completed multiple projects in the retail, healthcare and media sectors, working in harmony with third party Consulting Engineers and other Design Professionals. The paradigm in which we typically operate, serving as both builder and designer, provides us with a distinct advantage over the more traditional contracting firms, enabling us to work side-by-side with other Consulting Professionals in a more partnering manner, extending the professional courtesy that serves as a precursor to a seamlessly managed project from start to completion. Arthur received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. In 2000 he founded AMA Consulting Engineers (AMAPC), a 100+ person multi-divisional professional design engineering firm headquartered in New York City. He is a licensed professional engineer in 44 states and has over 25 years design experience with his specialty being in broadcast and production facilities. AMAPC’s core business is the design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial office buildings – both out-of-ground buildings as well as interior renovations and infrastructure upgrades within existing buildings. AMA Design-Build (AMADB) was founded based on the need for a construction management team to work in conjunction with AMAPC on the more complicated projects which AMAPC designs. Arthur’s partnership with Howard Cohen to form AMADB has resulted in numerous, successful collaborative projects between the two companies ranging in size from 20,000 to 500,000 plus square feet from New York to Miami to Los Angeles. Howard joined AMA Consulting Engineers in June of 2006 to help establish the construction (‘build’) group and now serves as Managing Partner, overseeing the day-to-day business functions of AMA Design Build. He came to AMA with 20+ years of experience in the construction and real estate industry having worked at Lehrer McGovern, Hines Interest Limited Partnership and Deere Real Estate Services where he served as President and CEO. His past experience, not only as ‘Contractor’, but as Landlord’s Agent and Owner’s Rep, working with both commercial and retail Tenant groups, provides him with the insight to integrate varying perspectives in his approach, thereby enabling him to develop amicable solutions when competing interests are at work. Howard is a licensed New York real estate broker, holds an MBA in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from NYU where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. A Full Service Construction Management Company
