However, the roots of the organization took hold over 50 years ago. It was in 1957 that All States Asphalt, Inc. (ASA) was founded by a local entrepreneur in Sunderland, Massachusetts. From 1957 until 1978, ASA was a local business specializing in the application and transportation of liquid asphalt products. From its humble beginnings as a local business with 10 employees, ASA began its expansion in 1979 by acquiring Adirondack Asphalt, a regional upstate New York company that provided the same products and services as ASA. By 1990, ASA had expanded its operations from the application and transportation business into the production of asphalt emulsions and the operation of asphalt distribution terminals. ASA was our legacy company, and over the years we have continued to grow our business. Each addition to our family of companies has enabled us to provide a wider array of products and services. However, the most meaningful outcome of each expansion has been the opportunity to welcome new members into our family of companies and to be strengthened by their expertise and dedication to their craft. The addition of Warner Bros., LLC to the family in 2006 marked a momentous occasion in our history. The Warner Bros. team and culture brought to us knowledge, resources, and experience that have allowed our group to broaden our business into areas such as aggregate supply, bridge deck rehabilitation, and road construction. ASA’s operations have expanded from the application and transportation business into the production of asphalt emulsions and the operation of asphalt distribution terminals. Warner Bros., LLC was founded in 1926 as Warner Bros. & Goodwin. By the 1940s the business had changed its name to Warner Bros. Corp. and was focusing on heavy construction. They engineered and constructed highways, bridges, and drainage, but they did not produce the blacktop that was used in their construction work. In the 1950s they constructed their first hot-mix plant in Sunderland, Massachusetts. This was followed by a second hot-mix plant in 1965 and a third in 1992, both at their Deerfield, Massachusetts stone quarry. Warner Bros core business today is hot-mix paving and aggregate supply and sales, however, they also continue offer new bridge and dam construction services. Down East Emulsions, LLC (DEE), located in Bangor, ME manufactures high quality anionic, cationic and polymer modified asphalt emulsions. All of our emulsions are formulated to meet AASHTO, ASTM and State DOT Specifications. DEE provides packaged RS-1 asphalt emulsion in 5-gallon pails for tack coating, joint sealing and damp-proofing concrete. In addition DEE manufactures One Patch, a liquid asphalt used to produce cold patch. DEE is also a liquid asphalt supplier for the Maine and New Brunswick markets. Certified PG binders that meet conventional AASHTO, ASTM, state, local and Superpave specifications. Trew Stone, LLC supplies high-quality trap rock and stone products throughout western Massachusetts and Connecticut. We produce aggregates that meet all required specifications for durability, hardness, shape, gradation and volumetrics. Our experienced crews keep our plants and production methods in top condition, and they run strict quality control on all our products. Our aggregates are used in industries that range from home and commercial construction to heavy highway construction. Auburn Asphalt, LLC operates two hot mix asphalt production facilities located in Auburn and Windsor, ME. These facilities provide hot mix service in the greater Augusta and Lewiston/Auburn markets. Both facilities provide Maine DOT approved mix designs for paving and FOB material sales.
