Established in 1973, Akkerman develops, manufactures and supports quality pipe jacking and tunneling equipment that accurately installs a variety of underground infrastructure. Lorenzen began his employment with D.H. Akkerman Construction Inc., as a pipeline and utility crew member until 1992 when the construction arm of the business dissolved. He moved to Akkerman Manufacturing as a mechanic and field technician and for many years, he was directly responsible for helping contractors install thousands of feet of pipeline all over North America and Europe. Lorenzen’s mechanical and field experience makes him an integral resource in the conceptualization and design of many Akkerman product offerings. In 2007, Lorenzen transitioned to the sales department where he has since served as a sales manager. [email protected] Chris Sivesind, sales manager is located in Seattle, Washington and also provides sales and dealership relations and support in Europe, India and Southeast Asia. He began his career as regional manager for his family’s pipe jacking and auger boring construction business. Following this, he worked as sales representative and specialty shoring installation consultant for a trench box rental group. Prior to Akkerman, Sivesind worked for a pipe jacking equipment manufacturer. Sivesind is an active participant in many industry associations and is the immediate past chair for the Pacific Northwest Chapter of NASTT. He received his formal education from Washington State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. [email protected] Troy Stokes, based in Daytona Beach, FL, has been sales manager at Akkerman for over 10 years, and also provides dealership relations and support in Australia and New Zealand. Stokes’ vocation in the underground construction industry has spanned nearly four-decades. His career began with his family’s construction business, installing residential and commercial pipelines and utilities. Prior to Akkerman, Stokes was responsible for global equipment sales and service for a microtunneling equipment manufacturer for 20-years. Stokes has been a contributing member for many associations and their regional and global chapters. He is integrally involved with the annual Microtunneling Short Course, was a recent keynote speaker and recipient of a 2015 Microtunneling Achievement Award and is a current member of the ASCE's Pilot Tube Microtunneling Manual of Practice committee. [email protected] Sales Manager Cecilia Zavaleta is located in Riverside, California and provides customer support and dealership relations in Mexico, and Central and South America. Zavaleta has been in sales and new business development in the heavy construction equipment industry for over 10 years. Zavaleta was previously employed as a territory sales manager for an auger boring equipment manufacturer. Prior to this, she was sales manager then transitioned to co-owner and general manager for an HDD equipment dealership. Zavaleta holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Argosy University, in Ontario, California and is bilingual in English and Spanish. [email protected] Yovani Zelaya based in Houston, TX, is sales manager and lubrication engineer. Zelaya was previously employed as general manager for a drilling fluids manufacturer. He began his career at an oilfield products and services supplier as numerical control programmer and computer numerical control machinist. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler in Houston and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Zelaya is fluent in English and Spanish.
