AJsPeaceProject, Inc. was created when my beloved son, Andre L. Myers, Jr., took his own life at the tender age of 17. AJ struggled with an anxiety disorder and was later diagnosed borderline bipolar. He was an overall happy kid who had an amazing family who loved and cherished him. He didn't show signs of mental illness until he was 13. He had some symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and sometimes had panic attacks. But as he approached his teen years, his symptoms of anxiety grew. He had episodes of paranoia, and sometimes hyper-ventilated. He was prescribed medication that seemed to make things worse, so we never got the opportunity to really focus on holistic alternatives. AJsPeaceProject, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. Specifically, the purpose of this organization is to provide an outlet for teenagers who struggle with mental illness. The teens will have the opportuity to paint, sculpt, draw, and write. They will be able to participate in yoga classes, horticulture therapy, music therapy and meditation. Their parents will be able to learn what signs to look for and how to deal with their teenager through the resources that will be provided. The ultimate goal is to provide an outlet (service) to teens living with mental illness. We will further our purposes under this program by conducting the following activities: Overall Wellness - Classes, forums, and resources for parents and students to better understand themselves and the illness is what AJsPeaceProject, Inc. will provide. The five areas listed above are what the program will start with. It will branch into nutrition, talk therapy, and other avenues that are natural and holistic. The project will have volunteered certified artists, acupuncturists, musicians, horticulture therapists, yoga instructors, meditation gurus, and counselors available. Volunteers will conduct our organization's activities. We currently do not have a location to conduct these activities but we are working to obtain a venue until we can purchase our own space. Their bow ties are a symbol of knowledge, as it reflects a depiction of an open book. Their goals are to provide outstandng quality bowties, and "tie" the past to the present by educating their customers to become knowledgeable about the accomplishments of noble men throughtout American history.
