The Story Behind the Agati Name Agati is a family-owned team of passionate furniture designers, engineers and manufacturers. We’re committed to creating the most durable public-use furniture that doesn’t sacrifice the least on style. Our story begins in 1970. With a freshly inked Masters in Fine Arts degree (glass blowing, in case you were wondering), Joe Agati began an apprenticeship with Wendell Castle, the father of the art furniture movement. Joe began building his own furniture. He found his niche in designing furniture for libraries. The environment presented unique challenges that kept Joe inspired. Agati tables, chairs and study carrels would get utilized by thousands of people over their lifetime. Joe loved blending artistic form with long-lasting durability. A Growing Business and Family As Joe’s fascination and passion for remarkable furniture grew, so did our business. Word-of-mouth praise from librarians, architects and designers brought Agati furniture into other public spaces. The Agati family grew, too. Today Joe’s son Joey (we know, it’s confusing) leads Agati’s design department. At our core, we are a family business passionate about innovative design, durable construction and exceptional customer service. Agati clients include libraries, universities, colleges, airports and many other types of public spaces. Our in-house design and engineering teams are relentless students of how people interact in these spaces and with our furniture. Our quality pieces and complete collections are tailored to meet their unique functional, aesthetic and technological needs. We are problem solvers at heart, creating solutions that make all the difference for public spaces. We continue to evolve our products to meet new needs without losing sight of our commitment to design and quality. We design our airport furniture with this in mind, providing power options in nearly all of the pieces recommended for airport spaces.
