At Agape Flights, we strive to honor God, obey His Word, and follow His living example of love, Jesus Christ. "Agape," the Greek word for God's unconditional love, and the word chosen to represent this organization by our ministry's founders, is an integral part of what guides our daily actions and ministry service. This set of shared values acts as a foundation for everyone working together at Agape Flights. Living out our core values helps Agape Flights stand accountable and reflect our mission, purpose and beliefs in all that we do. Agape Flights' Core Values Statement Agape Flights was founded by Keith and Clara Starkey on October 24, 1980. In the words of Clara Starkey, "God laid it on our hearts to buy an aircraft to fly supplies into Haiti." They chose the Greek word for love, AGAPE (the unconditional love He has for each of us) to describe their mission and their ministry. Keith Starkey passed away April 23, 2014, at the age of 87. On November 15, 1980, Agape’s inaugural flight left the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, bound for Cap Haitien, Haiti. The small Cessna 411 was loaded with donated emergency supplies and mail for about 25 missionary families. Today, Agape Flights serves as a lifeline from family, friends, and supporters to more than 350 missionary families in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Why Agape Flights? Agape Flights' current aircraft, the Embraer 110 Agape Flights serves missionaries living and working in some of the most challenging mission fields in the world. Agape's routine mail and cargo service is dependable and cost effective. One of Agape's biggest strengths is that it is available to the missionaries; a support system on the other end of the phone or email that understands what they need to receive is important and not easily purchased "down the street." The original principles that Agape was founded on 30 years ago continue to work today. The cooperative effort forged by missionaries, donors, volunteers, board members and staff, is grounded by faith in God's son, Jesus Christ to change and save lives. It is about 850 miles to Port-au-Prince and takes approximately 4.5 hours, including a stop for fuel. Due to weight limits of the plane, the fuel stop in the Bahamas allows the pilots to fly with more cargo and also provides the opportunity to serve missionaries based there. 2. How many missionaries does Agape Flights serve? While the numbers fluctuate, we currently serve about 375 missionaries, their families and their missions. 3. How do I become an Agape Flights Affiliated Missionary? If you are interested in becoming an affiliated missionary with Agape Flights, please refer to the Agape Flights’ Core Values At Agape Flights, we strive to honor God, obey His Word and follow His living example of love, Jesus Christ. This set of shared values acts as a foundation for everyone working together at Agape Flights. We are humbled by this opportunity and committed to serving God and supporting His missionaries. We live out the value of service when we: Focus on the needs of the missionaries and effectively meet those needs. Provide dependable delivery of mail and supplies to the missionaries. Use our time, talent, and resources to help others. Honesty and openness are pillars of integrity. We place God’s ways in front of our own desires and are committed to doing what is right even when no one is looking. Treat everyone with respect and consideration, including each other, staff, missionaries, volunteers, donors and board of director members, and all others we interact with, even when we disagree. Declare conflicts of interest and remove ourselves from related decision making. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men. Continually improve processes to eliminate errors and provide better service. God has invited us to work with Him; to share in His purpose for this ministry. We are committed to building a unified team to attain our organization’s goals. Recognize and partner with staff, affiliated missionaries, prayer partners, donors, volunteers, board members, churches, ministries and organizations. Operate as a cohesive unit while sharing a common mission and vision. Engage in proactive and effective decision making while considering available data and the Holy Spirit’s prompting. Welcome missionaries, volunteers, church and community members, guests, and staff to create a sense of belonging. Agape Flights’ Statement of Faith The Church is an elect company of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body. Its mission is to witness concerning its Head, Jesus Christ, preaching the gospel among all nations. It will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air when He appears to set up His kingdom. $381,019.00 provided extra flights, relief supplies and sea container transportation. The relief spending combined with millions of dollars’ worth of donated supplies and more than 20,000 volunteer hours provided immediate and critical relief to the Port Au Prince region. $32,803 provided extra flights, cholera response and ongoing relief supplies. The funds supported people and projects consistent with Agape’s mission, with an emphasis on: Micro-business job training and opportunities Through the ministry of aviation, Agape Flights delivers love and hope. After witnessing the devastating poverty and falling in love with the Haitian people, Agape founders stepped out in faith, mortgaged their home, bought Agape’s first plane, and began flying essential supplies to a few missionaries in Haiti. Choosing “Agape,” the Greek word for God’s unconditional love, to represent the core of this multi-denominational Christian aviation ministry,
