Looking for something the whole family can do this summer?  Adventure Kayak Florida offers more than just kayaking at our new location within Hanna Park, near Mayport Naval Station on the Atlantic Ocean.   Hanna Park has over 60 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails, and Adventure Kayak Florida can get you started with our hourly bike rentals.  For the trails, we offer Giant ATX Dennis Thompson, lead river guide and owner of Adventure Kayak Florida, LLC, is a life-long resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He has been exploring the tributaries of the St. John’s River by kayak for over 13 years, led numerous day and overnight camping trips, holds an American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 2 Coastal Kayak Instructor certification As assistant river guide, Claire helps to keep an extra eye on the group and is especially good at helping others learn to paddle. Jonathan Thompson joins the team as an ACA Level 2 Certified Kayaking Instructor.  Jonathan teaches the Quickstart to Kayaking and Introduction to Kayaking classes at Adventure Kayak Florida.  Jonathan's love of the outdoors, calm personality, and enduring patience make him a excellent instructor for students of all ages. Adventure Kayak Florida All of the equipment is provided on our kayak camping tours and expeditions.  That includes: tent, sleeping pad and bag, pillow, headlamp, camp stove, fuel and food (usually Mountain House dehydrated meals), and a chair.   The camping equipment that we use is the same that is offered by major outdoor retailers like REI.  So once you've learned how to kayak camp like a pro with Adventure Kayak Florida, you can head to the store and buy your own gear with confidence. Adventure Kayak Florida North Florida can be very hot and humid during the summer months (85-100+ degrees F).  It is important to dress appropriately to avoid heat exhaustion and sunburn.  A long or short-sleeve sun shirt and sunscreen provide protection from the sun.  A pair of convertible pants helps keep the sun off of your legs, and can easily be turned into shorts by unzipping the pants legs. In the morning, the sun tends to reflect off of the water making very difficult to see.  A good pair of sunglasses and a wide brim hat will help you see, and keep you from squinting your eyes all morning.
