Advantor Awarded Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick Kennedy presented small business Advantor Systems Corporation with the Department of State’s Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award for 2013. In Libya, during the Arab Spring, and under extremely dangerous conditions, Advantor improved the physical security at the chemical weapons storage facility there. This helped to secure the stockpile of Libyan weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and paved the way for the destruction of the Libyan chemical weapons. As a subcontractor to SAIC (Science Applications International Coporation), Advantor furnished and installed a USAF approved IDS system for the 180th FW (Toledo ANG) and 185th ARW. The system provided detection, assessment and display components using sensors closed circuit television systems to enhance security and improve situational awareness. Jason Hamblen, the project lead, stated “We are pleased the installation contractor was able to provide good quality work in a short period of time.” This type of project is a company wide effort and Advantor is elated about the project’s success and is looking forward to working more FPS2 projects in the future.
