Advance My Baby’s Mission is… They graduated in 1998 from Barry University in North Miami with their Bachelor’s of Science Degrees, majoring in Occupational Therapy. After graduation, they were selected to be two of the 20 therapists hired to provide in-home therapy for the Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services throughout the state of Florida. The Elk’s program provides free in-home occupational therapy and physical therapy services to children with developmental delays. They educate and train parents on sensory integration and use home exercises specifically tailored to address the child’s individual needs. began serving as an Occupational Therapist in 1995 and is experienced in pediatric home health, hospital (including acute and sub-acute rehab), and long-term rehab settings. She has been instrumental in cementing solid working relationships with: co-workers, management, physicians, EIP service coordinators, vendors, and the external business community. She has training in Sensory Integration and special education in cutting-edge treatment approaches including: Advanced Therapeutic Listening, RDI, Handwriting Without Tears, NeuroNet, Kinesio Taping, Core Concepts, and Balametrics. She feels truly blessed to be able to serve the children and families in her surrounding area. Paula has completed over 400 continuing education hours. has served as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant from 1989 to 1998. She continued on as an Occupational Therapist with multi-faceted experiences in pediatric home health, public and private school settings, hospital (including acute, sub-acute and out-patient rehab), and long-term rehab settings. She has been instrumental in cementing solid working relationships with: co-workers, management, physicians, EIP service coordinators, vendors, and the external business community. She has training in Sensory Integration and special education in cutting-edge treatment approaches including: Advanced Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, Kinesio Taping, NeuroNet, and Balametrics. She has served throughout the southern United States. Jeanne has completed over 500 continuing education hours. The two have set out to provide hope to all children and implore everyone to join with them to make this a reality. Jeanne and Paula’s intention is to share their knowledge and working expertise with as many families as possible. They want parents to have a source they can turn to for guidance and answers. As a board-certified pediatrician since 1997, I am always looking for tools to improve the overall well-being of the children in my practice. As the father of a child with sensory issues who had developmental delays, my wife and I spent many years working with physical and occupational therapists to meet the needs of our son, and through dedication and hard work we were able to help him develop into a wonderful child. Several years ago I was introduced to Paula Tarver, Jeanne Martin, and their revolutionary handbook, Advance My Baby. Paula and Jeanne are experienced pediatric Occupational Therapists who have more than 35 years of experience combined with specialized training in sensory Advance My Baby, it seemed like a wonderful tool that parents could use to screen for developmental delays with their infants in a real-time manner. It also showed parents how to interact with their young children in a meaningful and fun way, while at the same time helping to progress the child’s developmental skills. But I also saw another potentially identify their child’s challenges and deficits through the free, online assessment and then use the manual to help advance their child. It is now widely accepted that early identification and intervention is imperative for a child to have an optimal developmental outcome and for the child to reach its full potential. Far too often, a year or two passes before a child is properly identified and intervention is initiated. When a family is given a tool such as this book, they can identify any deficits as soon as they arise and start to correct them. In my practice, I have now made Advance My Baby a central part of my early child-hood care. Parents are encouraged to purchase this manual as soon as a child is born and to continue looking at it for all of its useful information from infancy through toddlerhood.
