Leah’s education and work experience have well prepared her to help students with their admissions essays and academic papers. In the summer of 2011, she worked as a Verbal Coach for the organization Let’s Get Ready. In this role, she tutored low-income high school students in the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the SAT and helped them develop their personal essays. Additionally, during her final semester at Barnard, Leah took an Essay Writing course where she studied famous short stories and learned how to craft a well-written personal essay. Throughout her college career, she worked with the Barnard Writing Center, a peer-to-peer tutoring center that focuses on advancing college-level writing skills. Leah utilized these writing skills in a multitude of academic papers in a variety of subjects, including her senior thesis. As an intern for the Education Development Center, Leah wrote the introductory section of a proposal for the U.S. Department of Education. These experiences have played a fundamental role in shaping her writing abilities. As a recent college graduate, Leah offers a valuable perspective on the college admissions process. She understands the high level of stress brought on by the process and actively worked to change that culture at Miami Palmetto Senior High School. As the founder of Palmetto’s chapter of Challenge Success, Leah attended the organization’s national conference at Stanford University in 2008 and led the team at Palmetto. The Challenge Success founders invited Leah to be a student speaker at the Challenge Success Fall 2009 National Conference in Palo Alto, CA, where she addressed over two thousand people about the stress brought on by the college admissions process.
