ABCO Fire Protection is a company with a rich history of success, tradition and major milestones. ABCO has seen many changes, new faces, growth and profitability since our start in 1975. This growth and success is the result of many factors, including continual acquisitions like the 2004 purchase of Harold D. Hard Co; and the 2006 Pure Force acquisition; and most recently, the founding of our new national partners: NIFAST; Live Safe Foundation; Meridian Integrations and Pinnacle Safety Services. The following provides a historical perspective of ABCO since its start in 1975. Tyco Fire Protection Products, parent company of the Ansul brand, has named ABCO Fire Protection an Ansul Triple Diamond Distributor for 2016. This is the highest distinction offered by Tyco to its Ansul partners–collectively less than 20% of Ansul distributors have achieved Single, Double, or Triple Diamond status. Ansul is one of the most recognized names in fire protection, and has been the standard-bearer in special hazard protection for decades. “Reaching Diamond Distributor status is not easy and we’re proud to recognize and reward our top-producing Ansul distributors for achieving this goal,” says Rick Foster, US Sales Director for Special Hazard Products. Each year The Entrepreneur’s EDGE organization provides the Shatten Civic Distinction Award which recognizes a Leading EDGE honored company that exemplifies the spirit of Richard Shatten, who had a strong love for the Northeast Ohio community and gave his time tirelessly in an effort to make it better for everyone. Richard’s life was cut short in 2002 when he succumbed to a brain tumor. Each year, The Entrepreneurs EDGE honors his memory and continues to build on the ideas that he so passionately supported by recognizing a leading EDGE company that exemplifies Richard’s spirit. Here’s why ours is something special. The fire protection industry is both old and young, making training and experience vital to protecting any property. While the industry continues to innovate at a rapid pace, some buildings maintain century-old fire protection devices in service. ABCO’s team receives regular training that includes in-house continuing education sessions, on-the-job training, vendor classes, formal education, safety training, and trade classes in some of the specialty sectors we service. As a result we have the talent to work on nearly any fire protection device, and our customers can rest easy knowing their systems and devices are properly maintained. At ABCO we have built our business upon the character of our people. Our growth and success are direct results of a corporate culture based on treating each employee with respect, and giving them the freedom to succeed to the extent that their ambition carries them. Our concerted effort to hire and develop talent that shares our values makes this level of freedom possible. We can train almost anyone to work in fire protection, but we can’t train anyone to share the values that have made us leaders in our industry.
