In 2007, after 35 years of working in the trade, Augusto G. Casamayor realized that the printing industry is one of the largest consumers of petroleum products, and one of the main causes of deforestation around the globe. Because of this, Casamayor decided to transition his business into one that can coexist with nature. In 2009, CGP began combining international standards, procedures, and practices in one single program with the purpose of certifying businesses through a third-party organization. The standards are based on the principles of the 3Ps (Profit, People and Planet) of the global vision of sustainable development that was established by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992.
