621 GALLERY, INC., Tallahassee

621 Gallery is a nonprofit arts exhibition and programs space located in Railroad Square Art Park in a former 1940s lumber warehouse. The original gallery space was established in 1981 and then incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1989. The governing force behind 621 Gallery is the Board of Directors who are members of the Tallahassee community with an interest in sustaining the arts. With the help of dedicated volunteers and interns 621 Gallery continues to be the primary outlet for contemporary arts in the region. Mission 621 Gallery is committed to bringing contemporary art, artists, ideas, and programs to the North Florida and South Georgia region. Offerings include monthly educational programming for children and adults, literary readings, musical, theatrical and dance performances, as well as participation several times a year in outdoor festivals at Railroad Square. 621 Gallery presents the work of 150-250 incredible local and national artists annually in a variety of formats, including solo and group exhibits (2-4 exhibits per month), from September through June each year. We do our best to showcase a balanced mix of established and emerging artists. 621 Gallery continues to reach out and connect with students, families, artists, and local businesses (e.g. Black Dog Cafe, Sweet Grass Dairy, Miccosukee Root Cellar, Sweet Pea Cafe, FASTSIGNS Tallahassee, Black Fig Catering, etc.) through exhibitions, events, and programming. Programming at 621 Gallery includes: literary reading series, evenings of music, theater, dance, and various other performances, involvement with FSU Schools of Theater, Dance, and Visual Arts, First Friday opening receptions, family workshops, and more! 621 Gallery is funded by local and regional grants, art sales, and fundraising events.
