The Lakeshore Bible Church Mission
Carrying out the “great commission” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Making disciples & baptizing them
Our Core Values & Ministry Philosophy
We desire to decrease so that Jesus may increase in our midst. We are not a “man” centered or “man” glorifying work.
Helping the poor and others in need such as the persecuted saints (Galatians 2:7-10), especially those of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10, 2 Corinthians 9:12), as well as the widows and orphans (James 1:27). Promoting the spread of the gospel into all nations (Matthew 28:19).
Loving fellowship in one accord (Acts 2:46, 15:25, Philippians 2:2) while applying God’s truth, affirming, valuing and respecting cultural differences and all ethnicities (Galatians 3:28).
We believe Jesus Christ came to establish a New Covenant in His blood, whereby we are cleansed from all our sins. There is no need of any more sacrifices for sins since Christ died once for all. This covenant replaces the Old Covenant that God sealed with Moses and Israel on Mount Sinai. While some of His commands may have changed, the principles on which the commands are based never change, since He never changes; He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The New Covenant was originally stated to be with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, but has been extended to Gentiles as well.
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Therefore, we are opposed to abortion.
We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward those who are not believers and those who oppose us. We are to deal with those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly. Although God commands us to abhor sinful actions, we are to love and pray for any person who engages in such sinful actions.
Missions
We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and teach them the commandments of Christ, so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us.
We believe that every Christian is a steward of that portion of God's wealth entrusted to him. We believe that God established the tithe as a basis for giving, but God’s grace should motivate all Christians to give sacrificially and cheerfully even more as led by the Holy Spirit. These gifts should be given to support the local church and to help those in need, especially the poor and fellow believers, widows and those suffering persecution for their faith.
We believe the Scriptures teach that the terms Pastor, Elder, and Bishop all refer to the same person, and that a plurality of elders is to lead the local church, making decisions in unanimity, with Christ as the head of the church. Only men are eligible to be leaders of the church. No shepherd is perfect in character or ability. Thus, the plurality of leadership allows strengths and weaknesses to be balanced by fellow elders, as well as the input of other godly saints in the congregation. Elders are to watch over the congregation with love, care, and prayer, setting a Godly example for all to follow. They are to teach and lead the people away from things that may harm the people.
